Jubal begins with fragments. The piece does not begin with an idea. Independent forms came first, and as they were layered and suspended, the whole gradually began to acquire a presence.
A musician who cannot hear his own music and needs to make noise in order to be noticed is a musician who plays to know that he exists. The only sound the piece can produce comes from the steel plates touching one another.
Jubal came at the end. The reference to the first musician acts as an added layer over a form that was already resolved. The work was therefore taking shape at the same time as its narrative was being constructed.

The piece is made from carbon steel plates treated with colour and texture. The different elements are suspended by threads from a ceiling plate and arranged in layers, keeping the gaps, distances and suspension system visible.
