La Tremenda / The Tremendous

This unique piece presents a profound and emotional reinterpretation of Francesco Guarino’s iconic St. Agatha . Through a vertical composition, the internal conflict of the original work is reconstructed, manifesting a dialogue between two opposing forces: contained anger and unconditional forgiveness. These forces intertwine in an ascending movement, emptying the lower part of the painting and directing all attention to the eye of the protagonist, whose gaze radiates an intense emotional charge.

As the work rises, the composition gains in density and drama, with colours and shapes becoming more vivid and tense. At the bottom, a delicate curved line holds the scene, charged with tragedy, reinforcing the fragility of the emotional balance of the figure depicted.

The protagonist, broken on the outside, hides her pain while her body seems to have been emptied, symbolizing the struggle between physical suffering and the capacity for forgiveness. This representation goes beyond the original religious portrait and offers a contemporary reflection on sacrifice, pain and redemption, involving the viewer in a visual and emotional experience.

This reinterpretation of St. Agatha not only pays homage to Guarino's work, but also explores new meanings and layers of symbolism that invite the viewer to reflect on the emotional forces that inhabit the human being.

Produced using fine art Giclée printing with water-based pigmented inks, the work is subtly retouched by hand with wax pencil and watercolor on 310-gram Hahnemühle William Turner paper, ensuring superior quality in both technique and materials. Every detail has been meticulously worked on and the work is signed by the artist, guaranteeing its authenticity and exclusivity.

Original and unique work. No additional copies will be made. The image will be used only for self-promotion purposes, thus preserving the exclusivity of the piece.

With a vertical format of 60 x 100 cm , this work is ideal for those looking for a unique piece of art with a great emotional charge and an incomparable visual impact.
