Martin SatíA brief introduction to Martin Satí's art shop

I consider myself a graphic craftsman who employs design as a means of forging connections with other disciplines.

My Experience

I hold a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Seville and Winchester, where I specialised in graphic design. This has equipped me with the skills to combine computer graphics and painting in order to create a personal language, which I then bring to bear on the study of forms.

Throughout my career I have collaborated with brands such as McDonald's, Google, HP, AT&T, IBM, Pink Lady, National Nederlanden, Deloitte, Samsung, Apple, Kellogg, Beefeater, Epson, Harper's Bazaar, Osborne, El País or Movistar for illustration, interactive installation, branding and product design projects.

Philosophy

My work philosophy is the result of a process that starts with the forces that go through the figures to project themselves in the geographical form.

My vision is constructed on the basis of the concept of the singular. I start from the premise that every individual-object-corporation is composed of multitudes. It is a journey from the molecular to the molar that is interceded by movements of relationships and alliances to elaborate a vital and organic chemistry that results in that singular character.

My references are borrowed from biology and geography (face and landscape) through the flow of emotions and using the mechanisms of infographic creation or ‘displacement maps’ to take them to other spaces of creation.

Emotional Design

My relationship to craft is a conceptual act in which I use the graphic material to raise the containing form. It is not the act of creating a chair to sit on but the act of conceptualising the chair as a map that brings us closer to the sensation of sitting on it, regardless of its functionality.

My personal projection filters the political, the spiritual and the folkloric to form a map of affectivities and contradictions.

My idea is not to elevate design to the category of art but to elevate design to an emotional category.

I live, work and study in Seville.
